Privacy Policy for TapVex
Effective date: November 2, 2026
- TapVex has no accounts of its own, no servers and no analytics. Nothing you do in the game is sent to me.
- Your scores, tokens and unlocks are saved only on your device.
- On Android, Google provides the ads (AdMob), purchases (Google Play Billing) and the leaderboard and achievements (Google Play Games). Those services collect some data, which this policy describes.
- On desktop, Steam provides achievements, the leaderboard and cloud saves.
1. Who I am
TapVex (Android package com.charles.eakins.tapvex) is a rhythm-reflex tapping game made by
Charles Eakins, an individual developer ("I", "me", "my"). This policy explains what information the
game and the third-party services built into it handle, and the choices you have. It covers the Android
version on Google Play and the desktop version on Steam.
2. Information stored on your device
The game keeps one save file in its private app storage on your device. It contains:
- your best score and best streak;
- your token balance;
- the skins you have unlocked and the one you have selected;
- whether you have bought "Remove Ads", and the IDs of the products you own (so a purchase is only granted once).
On Android this file never leaves your device. I cannot see it, and Android backup is turned off for TapVex, so it is not copied to your Google account backup either. On desktop, Steam Cloud may keep a copy (see Steam below).
3. Information I do not collect
TapVex does not ask for, collect or store your name, email address, phone number, location, contacts, photos, files, camera or microphone. The Android app asks for only three permissions:
- Internet and network state, so ads, purchases and Google Play Games can connect;
- Vibrate, for haptic feedback when you tap.
4. Third-party services
The services below are run by Google and Valve, not by me. They collect information directly under their own privacy policies, which I encourage you to read.
Google AdMob Android
TapVex shows banner, interstitial and optional rewarded ads through Google AdMob. No ads are shown if you buy "Remove Ads". To deliver ads, AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID, device and app information, your IP address (which can indicate your approximate location), and data about ad interactions and diagnostics. Google uses this to serve and measure ads, prevent fraud and abuse, and, where you allow it, personalize ads.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, TapVex asks for your consent before personalized ads are shown, using Google's consent tool. If you don't consent, Google may still show non-personalized ads, which use more limited data.

Google Play Billing Android
In-app purchases (Remove Ads, token packs and the VIP bundle) are processed entirely by Google Play. Google handles your payment details; the game only receives a purchase confirmation token and the ID of the product you bought, so it can give you the item. I never receive your name, card number or other payment information.
Google Play Games Services Android
If you sign in to Google Play Games, the game uses it for a global high-score leaderboard and achievements. Google receives your Play Games player ID, your gamer profile (such as your gamer name and avatar), your scores and your achievement progress. Your gamer name and scores may be visible to other players on the leaderboard, according to your Play Games profile settings.
If a future version lets you compare scores with friends, it will only use your Play Games friends list if you choose to grant friends access when Play Games asks. Signing in to Play Games is optional; the game works without it.
Steam Desktop
The desktop version has no ads or in-app purchases. Through Steam, Valve receives your Steam ID, the achievements you unlock, your leaderboard score and, if Steam Cloud is turned on, a cloud copy of your save file so it syncs between your computers.
5. How information is used
| Information | Who handles it | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Save file (scores, tokens, skins, purchases) | Your device only | Keep your progress between sessions |
| Advertising ID, device info, IP address, ad interactions, diagnostics | Google AdMob | Show and measure ads, prevent fraud, personalize ads where allowed |
| Purchase token and product ID | Google Play Billing, the game on your device | Process payments and give you what you bought |
| Player ID, gamer profile, scores, achievements | Google Play Games | Leaderboard and achievements |
| Steam ID, achievements, score, cloud save | Valve (Steam) | Achievements, leaderboard and cloud saves on desktop |
Where data protection laws such as the GDPR apply, ads data is processed based on your consent where consent is required, and otherwise on legitimate interests (such as fraud prevention). Purchase and Play Games data is processed to provide the features you choose to use.
6. Data retention
Your save file stays on your device until you delete it (see below). I don't keep any copy of your data. Google and Valve keep the data they collect for as long as their own policies describe; for example, Play Games data stays with your Play Games profile until you delete it.
7. Children's privacy
TapVex is not directed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given personal information through the game, please contact me and I will help get it removed.
8. Your rights and choices
Ads
- Personalized ads: on Android, open Settings → Google → All services → Ads (the exact path varies by device) to delete or reset your advertising ID, which stops personalized ads based on it.
- Consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland): you can change your ad consent choice at any time from the privacy option in the game's settings.
- No ads at all: buying "Remove Ads" turns off all ads in the game.
Deleting your data
- Save file: uninstall TapVex, or go to Settings → Apps → TapVex → Storage → Clear data. This permanently deletes your progress. Purchases of Remove Ads and the VIP bundle can be restored from Google Play afterwards.
- Google Play Games: you can manage or delete your Play Games profile and game data from the Play Games settings or your Google Account.
- Steam: manage your data through your Steam account, as described in Valve's privacy policy.
Access and other requests
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal data. Because I don't hold any personal data about you, most requests are best sent to Google or Valve directly. If you have a question or request, contact me and I will help where I can.
9. Security
Your save file is kept in TapVex's private storage, which other apps on your device can't read. Google and Valve send data over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but because I don't collect or store your data, there is nothing on my side to leak or sell.
10. International transfers
Google and Valve operate worldwide and may process data in the United States and other countries whose data protection laws differ from yours. They use their own safeguards for these transfers, such as standard contractual clauses, as described in their privacy policies.
11. Changes to this policy
I may update this policy when the game changes, for example if a new feature or service is added. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Please check back from time to time.
